Dear Reader,

Just a quick reminder about the Public Art Tour this Saturday. We hope to see you there!

This Saturday Philip Rickey '83 is once again leading a Public Art Tour of West St. Paul. This is an event we have done before and it is very popular. Philip is an artist/sculptor himself and provides great information and insight. Read the paragraph below for all the details.

This is a great event for all of your friends and family.
Public Art Tour - West Side of St. Paul
Saturday, June 11
12:00 - 3 pm
Join members of the Cornell Club for the fourth annual tour of Public Art in the Twin Cities.  This year we will focus on public art to be found on St. Pau's West Side.   Once again your guide will be Philip Rickey, class of 1983.  We will meet at 12:00 noon on Saturday June 11th, 2011 at the corner of Annapolis Ave and Cherokee Heights Blvd.  sculpture

We will park along Cherokee Heights Blvd and gather at the opening in the chain-link fence on the west side corner closest to the River Bluff.  We'll walk along the bluff through the woods to Vento's View, an overlook by Philip Rickey just above Pickerel Lake with views of Minneapolis, the Mississippi and downtown St. Paul.

Then we will explore various other sculptures and public art in the neighborhood, along Cherokee and down the bluff heading northeast toward downtown.  We will take in some beautiful views and explore some interesting architecture throughout the West Side.  During our tour we'll stop by Craig David's studio and see a work in progress; a 14 foot high twin stone fountain for Raspberry Island.

After that we'll make our way down to George and Ohio descending to the River to visit the Harriett Island levee gateway with reliefs carved by Craig and Raspberry Island where there is a wonderful band-shell designed by Jamie Carpenter.  We'll end with a visit to Neighborhood House and the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center in the Mexican neighborhood to look at 4 large stone mosaic murals on the exterior front wall.

RSVP's are appreciated: Philip Rickey / 651.293.1982
